Family Information

Offering support to the whole family when their child is seriously ill or injured.

Be our guest in Fort Worth.

We have compiled everything you need to know about staying
at the Ronald McDonald House of Fort Worth.
To be considered for the Ronald McDonald House of Fort Worth, families must have a child receiving pediatric treatment at a Fort Worth area hospital who is 21 years or younger. Please visit with a hospital social worker for more information and to begin the referral process.

  1. Obtain a referral to stay from your social worker at your local area hospital per your child’s treatment plan.
  2. Complete the house background check.
    • A link will automatically be emailed to families after their social worker has submitted a referral to stay overnight.
    • All guardians (regardless of plans to stay) AND anyone over the age of 18 who plans to stay overnight will need to complete a background check.
  3. The day before your referral begins, an RMHFW staff member will be in contact with you. They will ask you a few pre-arrival questions and/or schedule you for a check-in time the following day if there is room availability.
    • If there is a waitlist, families will be informed during the pre-arrival call.
  4. On the day your referral begins, you will automatically be moved to our waitlist.
    • Families will know a day in advance when we have a room available for them. If you have not been contacted the day before your referral begins, we do not have a room available for you that day.
    • Families are welcome to call the Ronald McDonald House of Fort Worth to check where they are on the waitlist but RMHFW will always be the first to contact you when a room becomes available for check-in.
    • Check-in times are 1PM–7PM, Monday–Sunday.

What is the RMHFW waitlist?
  • When RMHFW is unable to admit a family into the House due—to being at max occupancy or awaiting background checks to come back—we move families to our waitlist. RMHFW places families who have been on the waitlist the longest into rooms as they become available.
