At Ronald McDonald House of Fort Worth (RMHFW), we keep families with ill and injured children together and near the care and resources they need most. We provide a supportive, home-like community that eases burdens for families experiencing medical crisis, and we are looking for a compassionate, collaborative leader to help guide and strengthen our guest services and family support programs.

Position Summary

The Family Room Liaison helps create a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment for families using the RMHFW Family Room at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth. Working independently during scheduled shifts, this position provides hospitality, supports the day-to-day operation of the Family Room, and serves as a trusted resource for families, hospital staff, and volunteers.

Every interaction should reflect RMHFW’s mission and values by helping families feel welcomed, supported, and cared for during one of the most challenging times in their lives.

What You’ll Do

  • Welcome families, visitors, volunteers, and hospital staff with warmth, kindness, and compassion
  • Provide information about RMHFW and Family Room services, register families, and maintain accurate records
  • Help create a comfortable, welcoming environment by anticipating family needs and providing compassionate, service-oriented support
  • Build positive working relationships with hospital staff and respond appropriately to family concerns, involving leadership when additional support is needed
  • Welcome and support volunteers during their shifts
  • Maintain the day-to-day operation of the Family Room, including opening and closing procedures, restocking supplies, and keeping the space clean, organized, and welcoming
  • Monitor inventory, complete daily reports and basic program statistics, and communicate operational or facility needs
  • Follow RMHFW policies, hospital guidelines, safety practices, and confidentiality requirements

  • Compassionate, dependable, and comfortable working independently
  • Enjoy helping others and creating a warm, welcoming environment where families feel comfortable and supported
  • Sound judgment and the ability to remain calm, compassionate, and professional when supporting families experiencing stressful or emotional situations
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks during a shift
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to learn and effectively use RMHFW software systems and databases
  • High school diploma or GED

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Customer service, hospitality, healthcare, nonprofit, or related experience
  • Spanish language proficiency is a plus

 

Work Environment

  • Part-time position, approximately 20–29 hours per week
  • Flexible weekday and occasional weekend hours, as needed
  • Physical demands include standing and walking for extended periods; lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds; bending and reaching; performing light housekeeping tasks; pushing supply carts and restocking inventory; and working within a hospital environment while maintaining a professional appearance
