The Ronald McDonald House of Fort Worth (RMHFW) is launching a new fundraising initiative. GiveMyGiftCard.com allows RMHFW to accept partial balance or never used gift cards as donations which the organization can then use for online shopping. Acceptable cards are Amazon, Target, Walmart, Home Depot, Visa, Mastercard and American Express. These stores and cards are the best source for the online purchase of essential household items.
The process is simple. Donors visit www.givemygiftcard.com and then select one of two options: 1) “Take A Pic” to upload a picture of the front and back of the gift card or 2) “Input Card Info” to enter the information in an online form. This information is then submitted to RMHFW staff who will then capture the information and store it for use when shopping online. The idea behind this initiative is the brainchild of Chris Packard, current RMHFW board member and former board president.
“In this day and age of heavy gift card giving and use, I saw an opportunity for RMHFW to benefit from so many partial balance cards that may be left unused and laying around a person’s home. RMHFW can aggregate all the partial balance cards and utilize them for its online shopping needs,” says Packard.
“I’m thrilled to launch this unique opportunity for the benefit of RMHFW and our guest families. The site is live and ready for use, but of course, if a donor would prefer to mail a gift card to us from one of the acceptable sources, we are happy to accept the donation. This campaign is also most helpful during this pandemic. We are still serving families at our organization and the need for household items is just as pressing as usual. The ability to shop online with these donated gift cards keeps our staff healthy and working efficiently,” says Jennifer Johns, CEO.
